The association's purpose is to own, develop, distribute and administer a system of international waste management pictograms in order to facilitate the most environmentally friendly handling of waste and reuse of products. The association is run for the public good, not based on commercial interests.

Members

The founding members of the association are; Cicular Denmark (Denmark), Suomen Kiertovoima (Finland), Icelandic Association of Local Authorities (Iceland) and Avfall Sverige (Sweden). The organisation is open for new members. As a new member, the association can admit one municipal association per country, with similar roles in their respective countries as the founding members have in theirs. New members are approved by the board of directors.
